My journey to the Cincy Vinyl Trail started way back as a kid when my sister, cousins and I would hold concerts for our parents.  We’d put on 45’s and lip sync or sing along with the Go-Go’s and Joan Jett.  We would play stack after stack of those little records.  In my early teens I would listen to my Dad’s Beach Boys albums and my sisters Pat Benatar.  When my sister went to college I inherited the record player and albums.   I had plenty of cassettes and eventually CDs (still do), but I always had a special place for vinyl.  Fast forward to college where I met a boy.  One of the first outings we went on was to a record show in Des Moines.  There I fell in love; with the boy and with the vinyl.  Twenty plus years later both relationships are going strong. I married the boy and with him the vinyl.  Although we approach collecting differently it has been part of our lives ever since.  He is a crate digger and has an uncanny way of finding vinyl almost every where we go.  I’m more of a music lover who prefers vinyl.  For years we have traveled near and far for records.   When we come back home we realize how fortunate we are to have so many great shops right in our own backyard.   Collecting vinyl is as much about sharing your collection with others as it is about listening to the music.  For our mutual love of vinyl I wanted to make finding it easier for those who are already collecting, and especially for those who are just starting.  This lead to the Cincy Vinyl Trail.  My hope is that collectors in the Greater Cincinnati area, and beyond, will be able to connect with these great local shops.  So come along, grab a map and join us on the trail.
